Completely stupid, completely fun
Desert Punk is a ridiculous anime. That's what makes it great. There is not much of a point, other than making you laugh. There's no point explaining the story since the story doesn't matter. The animation, voice acting, dialogue, and comedy are all very well done. Despite being very low brow, this anime is entertaining, and a bit addicting. It's a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it. If you want to laugh a lot Desert Punk is for you.
Simple Hilarity
My first impressions of Desert Punk weren't exactly good ones; I had originally thought this to be a completely useless series as there was nothing in it other than "Aqua Teen Hunger Force"-like comedy and a complete over-saturation of fan-service. But I still had liked it nonetheless, because it did make me laugh. The English version, while not the truest translation, is filled with top-notch dirty jokes through and through, some of which is delivered so fast that it takes a moment to realize what you're laughing at. Plus, I enjoyed the unique style of animation and the quick-paced action.
But this volume of Desert Punk proves that my first impressions weren't so accurate. Not only do they attempt to follow a continuing storyline, but it actually works very well from episode five to episode eight. Excellent!! The anime can still be excellent from a set of seemingly silly background.
