Rather propaganda than musical or tourist guide, this movie portraits Australia through Japanese youngsters eyes-funny, sexy and careless, catching a wave for surfing and laying chicks the most problems are.
It is a really relaxing and surprisingly easy-to-consume Australian production.
Awwww! What's This Purple Sh...!
This is a fun Japanese roadtrip mocumentary filmed like a surf video (ie mostly music no talking) following three young Japanese (two guys and a girl) as they travel around and surf Australia. One guy is more serious than the other, the girl annoys them both and she is really into collecting souvenirs at every destination. The humour is from the Japanese being amazed by the eccentricness of Australia with looks of puzzled faces when they come upon giant things such as The Big Pineapple, Big Bannana, Big Prawn etc. Experiencing Australian food with one of the most hilarious scenes ever on film as the Japanese guy bites into a hamburger a look of utter disgust on his face he pulls out the slice of beetroot and says (One of the few lines in the film) Awwww! What's This Purple Sh#*! Funniest thing because the disgust of finding betroot in hamburgers is a common occurrence with tourists over here.
